What they've actually done

We're a young firm, and the most honest evidence we have isn't an admissions list — it's the students our mentors have genuinely worked with. Every case below is labeled with which kind it is.

Four kinds of case study, kept clearly apart

Plenty of firms blend results from different sources into one story. We don't. What each case actually is stays visible on the card.

A science or engineering competition project previously guided by one of our mentors. The work belongs to the student.

The cases

Each case is laid out as starting point → challenge → goal → the mentor's role → approach → what the student did → outcome, rather than a bare placement or admission result.

STEM competition project[Grade to be added]

A state-level science and engineering project: from a vague interest to research that stands up to questioning

[Starting point to be added] The student was interested in a STEM area but had never completed a full project, and had no picture of what "research" actually looks like.
The challenge
[Challenge to be added] The interest was broad and the question unfocused. There was no experience narrowing an idea into something testable, and none handling data or presenting results.
Goal
Take a real science or engineering question far enough to compete at the state level and hold up under questioning from judges.
The mentor's role
The mentor asked questions, advised on method, gave technical feedback, helped with project design and ran judging practice. The mentor did no part of the work, wrote nothing, and supplied no data.
Approach
Narrow the interest into a research question → settle the research question or engineering problem → design the experiment or engineering approach → prototype, run, and process data → iterate repeatedly → write the report and build the poster → rehearse the presentation and judge Q&A.
What the student did
The student ran the experiment and built the implementation, collected and analyzed the data, wrote the report and poster, and presented in person. The work is entirely their own.
Outcome
The student placed in the top two at a state-level science and engineering competition.
